Parkour - The Nature Of Challenge

PostPosted on Tue Feb 03, 2009 12:07 am

As some of you will already know, Dave & I have been putting together a bit of a documentary about parkour. We have tried our very best to ensure that the information contained within it is as accurate as possible. Anyway, have a look and judge for yourself. It's fairly long, so I've split it into 4 parts for Youtube. If you're featured in it, then I will burn you a DVD copy too :)

Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4

The video is available to watch in HD, although Youtube still seems to display high definition videos quite jumpy, unless you watch them in the early hours of the morning when their servers aren't busy.

Download parts 1 to 4 here:

Keep an eye out in the next few days for one monster download of the whole thing.

Should give a copy to the UMIST security guards that move us on... maybe they would approach us differently after watching this, and realising what we actually are doing. 8)

Monstrous effort guys. Congrats on this, the amount of effort and dedication gone into it really comes through.

Excellent overall message conveyed. Some really good thinking points

Really miss my training in Manchester now, from back in the day!

Paul & Dave - thanks ever so much for this. It's the best thing we've ever seen in parkour, you both did a fantastic job.

The words used in this to descibe the feelings we get, how we analyse the obstacles we encounter every day and how we plan and risk assess the process of overcoming them, they're just perfect.

Thousands of people have watched this so far, and it's only been online a few days. I'm sure it'll be in its hundreds of thousands like the conditioning one.

100% spot on.

P.S. Great to see my name in the credits ;) Could I get a copy of it on DVD please, Paul?

Thanks everyone. Owen and Gaz, we should organise a Manchester reunion training session at some point in the near future. It would be good to get everyone back together again :)

I'll bring a DVD along for you on saturday, Ben.

I approve.

For the next one, see if you can get it shorter (convey the information more efficiently) and maybe say a bit more about the relation of the physical side to the mental side, and how the physical training illustrates to your mind that obsticles you didn't think were passable an be overcome, and makes you look at the world differently.

The jumpyness on youtube typically comes from you're pc not being able to process the video fast enough. Youtubes servers are more than capable of their demands.
I found if I opened a few tabs in the internet browser the HD video went glitchy. Simply restarting the browser solved things.

Very nice film. I'm making subtitles to portuguese, so people from Brasil can enjoy more of this film.

I realy liked this one.

Israaraujo, let me know if you need a copy of the script to help you with the translation. It's also currently being translated into Polish and Italian :)

For anyone who wants to download the whole thing as a 720p HD quicktime, here's the link to the 950MB file:
